09.10.06 My third visit in Enchanted Kingdom was the most special mainly because it was a personal trip. It was not part of any educational tour like the first two times wherein those who can afford to join get incentives in
classes. There was no teacher around that will impose a 6 p.m. time limit and one does not have to worry if he comes a little late at the meeting place. From the planning to the execution, finding the terminal to Laguna, payment of the tickets which was from our own salaries, Anchor’s Away to the next ride, then Anchor’s Away again… it was all about US. It was a one-day freedom from the new weight that we shouldered after school… a fun-filled yet nostalgic revisit of ‘what-used-to-be’… and a silent promise to each other that despite distance and time… we remain friends.
But just like th e first two EK visits, I still haven’t managed to conquer some of my fears. I haven’t ridden the Space Shuttle because I realize the risks while my favorite ride was the Wheel of Fate yet I’m still a bit acrophobic riding it.
Then there are the first times for this EK trip. First time to be scolded (a bit!) by the ride attendant of Rio Grande b ecause he caught ‘me’ on act removing my safety belt, moving to the opposite seat to save myself from getting wet in the water rapids. First time that important items almost got lost but thank God were found and returned (right Sheena and Glads?). First time for Jake (Gladys’s bf) in EK… and first time for Rodel to bring a ‘friend’ on our group date (hhhmm…).When you are having this much fun you can only hope there would be a next time. But by the end of the day, we came to realize that as tomorrow dawns we only return to our normal lives– back to the pressures of our jobs and back to the reality that most of us won’t see each other until the next month’s group date. I guess what really mattered is NOW… that we enjoyed this day together… we escaped the reality for one day… we went home tired… but the spirit of friendship has definitely been refreshed. So on second thought, we really have nothing to worry about tomorrow… only to be thankful for the memories of this day.
