The Only Non-Fun Part

09.09.07 around 10pm
Here
I am sitting in front of my computer which mom had just insisted on relocating
from my room back to our living area where it’s more spacious. Just trying to
relax, after a fun-filled half-day with Rodel, Judie, Jhoy and birthday girl
Glads.

We
had an almost private birthday celebration with Glads at their house in Noveleta.
Going back at her place brought me to nostalgia since this was where we did
most of our overnight works for our design project back in college. That was
more than a year ago, and moving to present time, we are now all young
professionals dealing with more complex problem than passing an exam in Mam
Shie’s class.

Glads_bdayHours
earlier, I was sitting with friends in this circular steel table with a
predictable yet delectable set of meals Glad prepared for us. We were enjoying friendly conversations and healthy laughter. The scene looked so familiar. It
was as if we were just having a lunch at one of those eateries at the back of
the campus. Although Sheena’s not around for if she’s been with us, I bet she’ll
be the last to finish her     Glads_bday_2meal. We all miss cousin and the rest of our college
friends who for a reason or another were not able to join us in this get
together. Jhing is not available today. Jane is taking up Autocad classes on
weekends. While her ‘ex’ but remains friend to all of us—Jhayr, is million
miles away from us just like Wewe who also left for abroad just recently. By
simple arithmetic, I have three college friends already who have left the
country this year to pursue their careers abroad. Soon, Jhoy will add to that
number. She told us she’ll go to Korea  by November, where her sister
and brother-in-law work.

Rodel
needed some company to go with him at the mall so we left Gladys’ place at
about 5:30pm. It reminded me of skipping Foreign Language class in college just
to spend some bonding time with friends at the mall. We hit the arcade, and I
was lucky to get a stuff toy (my first time but I willingly gave to Jhoy) from
one of those pick-a-toy machines of Tom’s World. We did some videoke session
afterwards, even if Rodel is the only singer we had with us. I sang my heart
out loud with my rendition of ‘Gold’. Rodel, being the one who invited us had
the luxury to treat us some snacks (Japanese balls at one of these kiosks in
the food court) as if our stomachs had not enough from the food we ate at
Glad’s birthday. We should do this more often, I thought and we agreed to go to
Mall of Asia next week.

It
was around 8 pm, when we left the mall and parted ways. That was the only
non-fun part of this day.
