The Three-Week Old Thoughts

Saturday, October 6th, 2007

I’ve
been f*cking busy, working 10 hours for the majority of days in the past three
weeks. Sounds like a normal complaint but it’s been that long too that I have been
silent, holding up my emotions inside but now I’m ready to spill all the beans.

Week 1. I had a freak accident at my bedroom last
September 15. I was to sit at my bed(the most comfortable place in the entire
house for me) to read ‘The Alchemist’ with my back resting on the wall when all
of a sudden I felt like something bumped on my tailbone. It hit perfectly to
the protruded edge of the bed. Ouch. I hurt myself that I wasn’t able to sit or
walk comfortably for the following week.

Week 2. It took me the next week, before I decided
(and had time) to go for a check up because I was beginning to entertain
thoughts of having surgery because my back and butt were still having some
discomfort. I went to see a doctor and I had to be
X-rayed for two positions. I had the result the following Monday. Thank God it was
negative and I need not to be endorsed to an orthopedic surgeon. The discomfort
remain for the second week and up to now, I still feel discomfort when I am
sitting but somehow I’ve gotten used to it and don’t consider it too much of a
burden for my daily activities.

The
same weekend, I hang out with two elementary friends: Arem and Gretchen at the
latter’s house in Little Baguio. For about two hours, I found myself in
discussion with these two regarding a recent family issue for Lady, who was
also our friend. It felt like being in a
talk show where all of the friends gave their opinions on the issue but the
person really involved hasn’t given her official statement yet.

Week 3. I was told by Jhing, thru a text message
that she’s leaving for Dubai
very soon. She was supposed to go in Dubai four months ago but had second thoughts due to some issues in Duabi back then but now she’s like 100% decided. I sent an email to Judie and Rodel with subject: “Jhing
flying to Dubai v2.0” and as much as I wanted to organize a despedida for her
like what I did for Sheena and tried to do with Erwin, I knew it wasn’t seem
possible because of the bad weather these days. Also Rodel seems ‘fully-booked’
for the whole month of September.

Ironically, Jayson
texted me last Sunday for a last-minute invite to go to Jhing’s house in Cavite City with Judie. We brought some Chinese food merienda from Chowking, and just
pigged out with Double Dutch ice cream. Jess came late, during and after
eating we just talked about issues with our present jobs and former college
classmates–two default topics when I hang out with college friends.

As
of this time, Jhing is officially one of the ‘Dubaianas’ (my coined term for my
friends who went to work in the promise ladn of Dubai ).
I returned a call to Sheena last night after I missed her calls the other night
and I learned from her that she has already met up with Jhing and Lauro briefly
in Dubai that’s why she called.

In
a span of four months, four friends were physically separated from me and it’s
a scary thought that there will come a time that I will have more friends
abroad than I have here. Glads is the only friend who is constantly keeping in
touch with me thru phone calls so I am always up-to-date with her lovelife. Too
bad I don’t have much to share to her on that subject matter. Jhoy was
thoughtful to text me regarding the recent high tide that happened in our place
which was broadcasted on news. But luckily, our house was built several meters
away from the seashore so we were spared. Rodel surprisingly called me up last night around 7pm,
and yes, I was still at work. He said Judie will be interviewed for an open position at his company.

A
note on a few high school friend keeping in touch with me lately… I was
surprised to get a message from Jettrey, inviting me to ‘join’ his
business—“it’s all about wellness”, he used to say. I turned down his offer the
first time because it coincided with my doctor visit. Second time, I said I am
not really ready to invest. He responded by saying “Money is just one thing,
what’s more important is your will to succeed…”. Something he probably learned
after reading “Rich Dad Poor Dad”.

Emie
is now my friend in Friendster, and a message from her revealed that she’s
presently working in Singapore.
Piper (Romeo) on the other hand is now working in Alabang and I have yet
to confirm if he’s now a Dad or not yet.

Weeks Ahead. The
weeks ahead will be f*cking busy too. Yet I’m looking forward to many things: Sarita’s
coming home, the October 12 holiday and my two-day vacation leave, the next
payslip, passport application, Rodel’s birthday and the new season of Grey’s
Anatomy. Expect me to write about these next time.
